solac studio

a quiet, text-based online studio

user agreement

the terms of using solac studio · v0.9.0 · 18 september 2026

this agreement is between atakan solak, a natural person running solac studio on his own hardware (below, "the studio"), and you, the person using it (below, "you"). it is accepted before an account exists; an account cannot be made without accepting it.

1. what you are given

solac studio is one native application for iphone, ipad and mac. every tool is a room inside it. personal tools (bridge, calendar, converter, custody, health, wallet) are open to every member. project tools (adr, color, credits, dailies, dialog, edit, motion, music, offload, online, post, screen, sound, subtitle, vfx) are opened to you only when you are invited to a project and that tool is assigned to you on it. there is no web version of the application.

2. your account

an account is either created for you by the studio, or made by you inside the application with a username, a password and an email address. a code is sent to that address; until it is entered the account does not work. the code lasts 24 hours and can be sent again. a sign-up that is never activated is deleted after 7 days.

an account belongs to one person. do not share it, do not hand your password to anyone, and tell the studio if you think somebody else has used it. what happens under your account is yours.

3. what you may do, and what you may not

use the studio for your own work, and for the work of a project you were invited to. do not put anything unlawful into it, do not put material you have no right to, do not resell or rent access to it, do not attack it, do not try to reach another member's data, and do not use it to harm anyone.

4. what you put in stays yours

what you write, upload and make in the studio is yours. the studio takes no ownership of it. to run the tools you ask for, the studio must store your material, process it, convert it and show it back to you, and to the people on a project you share it with. that is all the permission you give, and it ends when the material is removed.

the studio does not sell your data and does not run advertising. what is processed, why, and for how long is written in the privacy notice, which stands beside this agreement and is not replaced by it.

5. what the studio promises, and what it does not

the studio is one machine run by one person. it is offered as it is: no uptime promise, no promise that a feature keeps its shape, no promise that a tool cannot be withdrawn. while a new version is being built the studio can be closed for maintenance and the application will say so. keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

nothing here removes a right you have by law that cannot be removed by agreement.

6. leaving, and being deactivated

you can deactivate your account from inside the application. a deactivated account cannot sign in and does nothing further, and its data is kept with no time limit, so coming back is coming back and not starting over. the application has no button that deletes an account, and this is deliberate.

reactivating is done only by the studio: write, and it is turned back on. if you want your data erased rather than kept, ask for that in writing and it is erased (your right under article 11 of law no. 6698).

the studio may deactivate an account that breaks section 3, and will say why.

7. changes to this agreement

this agreement carries its own version, in three parts, and it does not follow the application's version. it is reviewed every build round: if that round's work changes anything written here, a new version is published: the whole text here, and, for a member who already has an account, the change alone.

from v1.0.0 onwards a member who downloads an update is shown what changed and answers it: accepting carries on, refusing is asked once more and then turns the account into a deactivated one, which only the studio can turn back on. until v1.0.0 there is no accept-or-refuse step on an update; the text in force is simply the one published here.

8. law

this agreement is governed by the law of türkiye, and the courts and enforcement offices of istanbul are competent for any dispute.
